Detailed Itinerary.

Day 1: Kigali City Tour – Transfer to Butare.

Our tour guide will meet you at Kigali International Airport, provide an introduction of the safari, and then take you on a city tour of the gorgeous city of Kigali, including stops at genocide memorials and lunch at Chez Roberts, before taking you to Butare.

Day 2: Visit Murambi Genocide Memorial – Nyanza Palace.

After breakfast at the lodge, you start with a tour of the genocide site and the national museum. You continue on to Nyanza Palace, where you may discover the ruins of the palace that remain in Rwanda as well as the rich history of Rwandan kingship. While there, you will accompany the royal guards as they patrol the Nyanza Palace.

Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park.

Travel to Nyungwe Forest National Park, which is believed to be home to chimpanzees, after eating breakfast in the morning. In order to participate in the nighttime canopy walk, which allows you to watch birds and other primates from the top of the trees with the informed assistance of park rangers, arrive before the afternoon.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking in Nyungwe Forest

After an early breakfast, head an hour to the start of Chimpanzee Tracking for instruction on the rules that Chimp trekkers in Nyungwe Forest National Park must follow. After you go into the jungle to search for them, you can come across other primates, like birds and monkeys. Once you’ve been found, you’ll hang out with them for an hour before eating your packed lunch. Return to the lodge to relax.

Day 5: Harvesting Tea with the Locals

The plants that produce this popular beverage among both residents and visitors are cultivated in the rich volcanic soil and the temperate climate of Nyungwe forest during this village visit to the tea plantation. You will join the locals in the tea collection process to get knowledge about the harvesting, processing, and even tasting of tea. This is a great family vacation that welcomes visitors of all ages.

Day 6: Transfer to Gisenyi.

Following breakfast, you will board a safari jeep and travel to Lake Kivu for four hours. You will arrive in time for lunch and then unwind on the lake’s shores.

Day 7: Lake Kivu Boat Cruise.

After breakfast, take a boat ride on Lake Kivu’s waters and see the local and fishing communities. Return for lunch, then spend the evening lounging on the beach and enjoying supper and overnight.

Day 8: Full Day in Gisenyi.

Take a stroll through the village and engage with the people all day.

Day 9: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

Visit the ex-poachers in the Ibyi’wachu Cultural Village. They perform marriage rituals, dance, and other aspects of Kinyarwanda culture.

Day 10:  Return to Kigali – Departure.

Get out of bed early, eat breakfast, and leave the lodge. After that, you will travel to the Musanze Caves before returning to Kigali City. After that, you’ll head to the airport to catch your journey back home.
